Saint Nicholas Peak

Saint Nicholas Peak is located on the Bow N'ev'e. To get to this peak you must do some glacier travel and although the glacier itself is fairly smooth, it does have a few small crevasses.

I tagged along with some new friends and although I wasn't in very good physical condition, my experience coping with physical pain got me through to the end.

Here's Dave on the summit of St. Nicholas Pk.

To sum it up I had no sleep for two nights, had 3 inch torn blisters on the ball of both feet, had a minor chest infection and was over-weight. But despite all these mitigating circumstances I'm proud to say I knocked both peaks off; St. Nicholas Peak and Mount Olive that is.

The others
That's Dave in the center. Derek's on the left, Rob on the right.

This shows the col between Olive north and Olive south. By the time I was standing here I could see the others standing on the shoulder below the red cross. They were on the way down.

My camera battery was low. This wouldn't allow me to take pictures when the camera was cold. The shutter wouldn't release, so what I've done is to borrow a picture or two off of http://www.dave-stephens.com to round out the story. Where Dave's pictures are used I've made a note.

he way I see things, the way I see life, I see it as a struggle. And there's a great deal of reward I have gained coming to that understanding -- that existence is a struggle.
