Web
site designs "by Tim L. Helmer" is here to deliver you first class
Web site promotion services.

The idea is to increase the visibility of your company or
organization, and to provide utility to your clients and users by
making your site easy to find. Web site
positioning is the one topic that probably makes companies
suspicious as there are so many organizations using high pressure
sales pitches. Everyone claims to give you top
results and if you are like me, you are highly skeptical of such
claims. For this reason I have spent much time and effort to
research META tags and search engine spiders/directories, and the do's and
don'ts of optimizing a site for top placement.
Top
positioning

Lucky for me I have
been forced into one of the toughest sectors of the internet for
positioning, Real Estate. It is however a mixed blessing
because on
the one hand I have had difficulty in promoting my clients sites to
the top of the heap, a very sizeable pyramid. On the other hand I
have had to work a lot harder to achieve these results and so have
learned a great deal about the intricacies of the game. To see
some of my results visit the links below.
You are welcome to verify
the results, just go to the search engine in question and type in the
keywords. Make sure to check the date of the report as the
positioning on some engines is unstable over a period of time.
Do you want to read more about how indexing is done? AltaVista has some good
information for you at This
Hyperlink. Also you may want to look at Brent Winters Market
position newsletter in HTML
format. Many other links are available, and if you know how to
search, you'll have no problem in finding the information you need.
I have been closely watching the activities of several other
promotion companies, many of which have a better sales pitch than I
do. They have splashy sites with good designs and lot's of hype, but
very little else. Simply submitting your site to search engines is
not enough. The pages must be properly constructed to rank high on
the list. I'll leave it up to you to decide who is more honest. Do you want to
deal with an organization or with an individual? In my estimation
Web site promotion is a one man job. It's not rocket science, but it
does take care and attention.
Here are some links
that I found for you in a few minutes. I hope the links help you, but please don't
forget that I am not just a submission service.

What you get
I start by optimizing your Web site for your targeted keywords,
then I build the META tags, optimize your site for your chosen
keyword phrases and lastly I submit to the top search
engines and other major search engines. I use automated tools for META tag generation,
site optimization, search engine submission, and ranking. However automated tools can not properly optimize your site, nor can they choose effective keywords.
Those tasks are best left to someone who has a vested interest in
your position, and who's reputation depends on how well his client's
site rank; that's me!
And lastly I submit and resubmit where placement has not occurred.
With some engines it has been said that up to six submissions are necessary
to get the spider to crawl and index a site. As most engines have
a limit of 90 days minimum time elapsed per submission, it can
take up to 1.5 years to complete all major search engines
submissions. If mistakes are made, this value gets larger. My experience with search
engines confirms this.
If you want to play it safe, and visibility
is critical, you are better off letting an expert do the optimization
and submission for you.
Web site hosting
Looking for affordable quality hosting? I am very picky about who
I recommend. The last thing I want, is for a hosting company to make
life miserable for my clients. The best I can find in the Alberta
area is listed below. They offer 99Meg for $99/Year (USD) with your choice of
three different servers. If you click through to them from my site
and then buy, I get credit with no additional cost to you. If you are my client I will apply the
credit to services I complete for you. Win win!
If you want to order now, just click here for
the order form.
Not sure yet? Need more information? I don't blame you. For Tera-Byte

Real Estate
Real Estate is one of the major proving grounds for Web designers to
test their promotional abilities. This sector of the internet is very competitive and is always changing.
Here is my brief but concise list of topics that a REWDer should
know.
- Good design (this is not always the result)
- Virtual reality tours
-
Proper
promotion. Please
click on these competitive promotion links to view the
status reports
- Links suspended temporarily
- Calgarycommercial.com
- Calgaryrealty.net
- Godlonton.com
- Goodrealtor.net
Note; Submission reports do not show the correct date. 'Snap'
position is not as shown. These bugs have been reported and I
hope are under repair.
Virtual reality tours

The VR Tours are very cool, or very boring
(and stupid), depending on how well implemented they are.
The VR table below lists VRML and Java as options, and if you
find a small box confining, click on the Jpg column. This area
will be updated with 'clickable' tours as soon as there is a
need. The 'clickable' tours will be implemented in a sample
tour on my Mountain Page
soon. I feel that the IPIX tours that are the norm on
Real Estate Web Sites, are
inferior to the code that is supplied by www.mgisoft.com.
